Welcome to Grand Tribunal
Grand Tribunal is the international convention dedicated to Ars Magica.
Across its twenty-year history, the convention has brought together players, authors, artists, publishers and game masters to celebrate Mythic Europe and imaginative historical fantasy roleplaying.
Delegates have travelled from North America, Japan, South Africa and many countries throughout Europe, making Grand Tribunal a truly international event.
Whether you are a veteran magus, a curious roleplayer who has never played Ars Magica, or simply looking for a friendly weekend of tabletop gaming, you will find a warm welcome. Most games are beginner-friendly, and previous knowledge of the setting is not required.
Who runs it?
Grand Tribunal is a community event organised by volunteers and supported by friends from the wider RPG scene. We keep it affordable, cheerful and magical. Ars Magica author CJ Romer and Andrew Oakley put it together each year.
No corporate overlords. Just magi, grogs and good company.
Games and Programme
The 2026 programme includes The Garden of Love: An Ars Magica Freeform, Andrew Oakley’s Brother, Why? Magical Marginalia, Kyrie Crawford’s Vampire: The Masquerade — Blood on the Mojave, and CJ Romer’s The Dunwich Candidate, with further games to be announced.
Guests and Attendees
Grand Tribunal has always been about people rather than programmes. Over the years it has become a gathering place for players, authors, game masters, artists and friends from across Britain and Europe. This year we are joined by:
Players
Newcomers and veterans alike are welcome. Whether this is your first Ars Magica game or your hundredth, there is always room at the table.
Game Masters
Grand Tribunal thrives on its volunteer GMs, who bring everything from introductory adventures and campaign episodes to freeforms, historical scenarios and experimental games.
Friends
More than anything else, Grand Tribunal is an opportunity to spend a weekend with friends old and new, sharing stories, games, ideas and perhaps a little magic.
Grand Tribunal has welcomed attendees from across the United Kingdom, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, France, the Netherlands and beyond.
The convention remains deliberately small enough that everyone can get to know everyone else. Many attendees return year after year, while newcomers are always welcome.
